Arizona Western Volleyball powers past Phoenix College
PHOENIX, Ariz. - After opening conference play on Wednesday with a win in straight sets over the College of Southern Nevada, the Arizona Western Volleyball team hit the road for a non-conference match versus Phoenix College. It was the second meeting between the schools in the last six days as they previously met at the Dalton Overstreet Invitational in Prescott, Arizona on September 6th. While the venue was different, the outcome was the same. Arizona Western won in straight sets (25-10, 25-14, 25-4) to improve to 7-1 on the season. The Lady Matadors were led by Blanca Terminel Lopez with nine kills and seven digs. Esther Asiedu pitched in with eight kills while Joyce Crosby added eight digs and a block.
"The team worked really hard to maintain a high level of play," AWC Head Coach Loranye Chandler said. "They worked really well together and played with intent."
The Lady Matadors have now won four matches in a row and will put their win streak on the line when they travel to Yavapai and get back into conference play on Wednesday, September 17th.
