Da Silva, Ndiba lead Matadors over Gila Monsters 60-52
YUMA, AZ - The Arizona Western Matadors (5-1, 1-1) opened their home schedule on Saturday afternoon with a 60-52 win over Eastern Arizona (6-3, 0-3).
Teresa Da Silva and Alliance Ndiba combined for 42 of the Matadors' 60 points to open the home portion of the schedule with a win, evening up their conference record at 1-1.
The Matadors outscored the Gila Monsters in all but one quarter, pulling away from Eastern Arizona in the fourth quarter.
Da Silva scored 21 points in the win, scoring 11 of her 21 points in the 4th quarter. Da Silva shot 6-of-11 from the field and 8-of-12 from the free-throw line while hitting the Matadors' only made three of the game.
Ndiba recorded her fifth double-double of the season, scoring 21 points and grabbing six rebounds while blocking a career-high six shots in the win.
The Matadors hit the road on Tuesday, November 23, heading to Joshua Tree, Calif. to take on Copper Mountain College at 6:30 pm.
