Arizona Western College Empowers Young Athletes at Fourth Annual San Pasqual Summer Camp
Participants enjoyed a fun, active environment while developing a love for movement and learning fundamental athletic skills.
WINTERHAVEN, Calif. - Nearly 50 kids from around the San Pasqual Valley School District participated in Arizona Western Colleges fourth annual San Pasqual Summer Camp. The camp serves students ranging from first grade to eighth grade and the campers are divided into four age groups, with each group participating in a 90-minute session.
"Success at this age isn't measured by wins—it's measured by confidence, effort, and a willingness to stay active," Arizona Western College Assistant Volleyball Coach Roberto Madrigal said. "Our goal is to help every child leave camp having learned a new skill, make new friends, and discovered that being active can be fun."
The camp's goal according to Coach Madrigal, who led the event, is to provide a fun, active environment where kids develop a love for movement while learning fundamental athletic skills. Throughout the camp, the focus centered on fitness, speed, agility, coordination, teamwork, and basic sports skills. Students were also introduced to the fundamentals of basketball and volleyball, allowing campers to build confidence while staying active.
