Three Lady Matadors receive NJCAA All-American honors
The NJCAA recently released their 2025 DI Women's Soccer All-American teams which include three players from Arizona Western. Team Captain Linka Ono was selected as a member of the NJCAA DI All-American First Team. This season, the sophomore midfielder from Tokyo, Japan, scored four goals including two game winners along with nine assists in helping the Lady Matadors back to the national championship game. In 2024 Ono was also named an All-American as a member of the second team. Most recently, Ono signed to continue her collegiate career with the LSU Tigers. Goalkeeper Iyan Hernandez is named to the NJCAA DI All-American Second Team. The sophomore from Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico, played in 18 games this season while making 39 saves and allowing only four goals. Hernandez and the Lady Matadors also did not allow a goal in regulation or through overtimes during the national tournament. Sophomore midfielder Asa Yamazaki is honored for the second year in a row. This year, Yamazaki is a member of the NJCAA DI All-American Third Team. Yamazaki finished her sophomore season with eight goals including one game winner and seven assists. Yamazaki was named to the NJCAA DI All-American Second Team in 2024. This season, Arizona Western finished the 2025 season with an overall record of 17-2.
