Lady Matadors stay undefeated, pull out tough road test at Cochise College

DOUGLAS, Ariz. - The #2 ranked Arizona Western College Women's soccer team pulled out a hard-fought conference game on the road against Cochise College on Saturday afternoon. Arizona Western opened the scoring at the 33-minute mark on a goal by Kanon Ozaki, assisted by Kei Yoneda. Six and a half minutes later Cochise College tied the score on an unassisted goal from Stephanie Vazquez-Ce. The Lady Matadors took the lead for good in the second half in the 67th minute. Again, Osaki had a hand in the goal, this time with the assist on game winner by Fernanda Quiroz. Goalkeeper Iyan Hernandez turned away six of seven shots in the victory. Arizona Western hangs on for the 2-1-win and improve to 6-0 in the season and 3-0 in conference play. Another long road trip awaits the Lady Matadors as they will head north to face the College of Southern Nevada on Tuesday for another ACCAC showdown.
