Lady Matadors deliver dominant defensive statement in 72-39 rout of Southern Nevada

YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western College women's basketball team (10-7, 3-0) delivered a commanding performance at "The House" on Saturday, overwhelming College of Southern Nevada 72-39 in a crucial conference matchup. The Matadors used a stifling defensive effort and balanced scoring to extend their winning streak to five games and stay undefeated in ACCAC action.

Mable Doumbia anchored the victory with a dominant double-double, tallying 13 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Kimora Jenkins matched her with 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including three three-pointers, to lead the offensive charge.

Arizona Western set the tone from the outset, holding the Coyotes to just 6 points on 19.6 percent shooting in the first quarter. After a defensive battle early, the Matadors erupted in the second quarter, outscoring Southern Nevada 32-7. Jenkins capped off the run with a jumper to extend the lead to 37-10, helping Arizona Western take a 41-13 advantage into halftime.

The Matadors maintained their relentless pressure after the break, limiting scoring opportunities and dominating the glass behind Doumbia's rebounding. The offense continued to click, fueled by sharp ball movement and timely perimeter shooting, pushing the margin to 62-27 entering the final quarter. Arizona Western closed out the contest with a balanced effort on both ends to seal the 33-point victory.

Queren Loubaki added 10 points, matching her collegiate high, while also setting a new career high in rebounds pulling down seven with a block. Chen Pan chipped in 10 points, including two three-pointers. Marta Vieira contributed 9 points off the bench, all from behind the arc. The Matadors assisted on 16 of 26 field goals, further highlighting their unselfish play.
