Two-win weekend propels Matadors to 17th in NJCAA DI Women's Basketball rankings

YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Matadors Women's Basketball team moved up eight spots in the latest NJCAA DI Women's Basketball rankings, checking in at No. 17 after a pair of wins over the weekend.

The Matadors started the week with a convincing win over the previously No. 12 ranked Odessa College in their first game of the Chapman Automotive Thanksgiving Classic, beating the Wranglers 84-60 on Friday evening. Arizona Western took the lead midway through the first half and never looked back, leading by as many as 29 points in the third quarter.

Arizona Western continued its winning ways on Saturday afternoon, holding Jessup University JV to 14 points in an 89-14 win. 14 points was the fewest points allowed by the Matadors in a game this season.

The Matadors return to action on Saturday afternoon hosting Yavapai in an ACCAC matchup at the House Gymnasium at 2:00 pm.
