Women's Basketball finishes regular season with 50-27 win at Glendale

YUMA, Ariz. – Arizona Western Women's Basketball (20-10, 13-8) ended the regular season with its 20th win, beating Glendale (6-22, 3-18) 50-27 on Tuesday evening in Glendale.

Rosa Revueltas and Maddison Zugna combined for 27 of the Lady Matadors' 50 points, leading the Lady Matadors to their second straight win.

The Lady Matadors trailed early in the first quarter after a Glendale three put the Gauchos up 3-2. Arizona Western went on a 5-0 run to grab the lead and took an 8-6 lead into the second. The Lady Matadors outscored Glendale 17-4 in the second quarter thanks to three Rosa Revuletas three-pointers and an Ayson floater to cap a run to give the Lady Matadors a 25-10 halftime lead.

Revueltas was the Lady Matadors' second leading scorer with 13 points, hitting three three-pointers in the win.

The teams traded baskets in the third quarter as the Lady Matadors outscored the Gauchos 15-14 to take a 40-24 lead into the final quarter. Arizona Wester's defense held Glendale to just three points in the fourth quarter and Maddison Zugna scored eight of her team-leading 14 points in the second half to help the Lady Matadors fend off the Gauchos.

Lime Okada finished the game as the Lady Matadors' third-leading scorer, scoring nine points while Ayson added eight.

The Lady Matadors hit the road for postseason play, heading to Douglas, Ariz., to take on Cochise in the Region I Semi-Final on  Tuesday, March 7, at 6:00 pm.
