Arizona Western's Jessica Smith named 2026 NFCA NJCAA DI All-American

For the second year in a row, Arizona Western softball pitcher Jessica Smith is named to the 2026 NFCA NJCAA DI All-America team. In 2025, the Australian was named to the NFCA All-American First Team as a member of Crowder College. During her freshman year with the Roughriders, Smith finished second in the nation in strikeouts (308) and fifth in wins. In her sophomore season with Arizona Western College, Smith was named Region 1 / West District tournament MVP. Smith was also named ACCAC DI Softball Pitcher of the Year and a member of the NFCA All-West Region First Team.

During Arizona Western's NJCAA DI World Series run, Smith was the only pitcher used by Arizona Western in the Lady Matadors four games (2-2). Smith pitched 25 innings, allowed 10 earned runs while striking out 17 batters. The two wins in the NJCAA DI Softball World Series were the most on the national stage since 2001. Smith workhorse performance earned her a spot on the NFCA All-American Second Team. Smith is expected to join the NCAA DI ranks by joining the USC Upstate Spartans in Spartanburg, South Carolina for her junior season.
