Matadors extend win streak to eight with road victory over Yavapai
PRESCOTT, Ariz. - The Arizona Western Men's Soccer team extended its regular season win streak to eight games with a 3-2 win over Yavapai on Saturday night. The Matadors opened the scoring at the 40-minute mark on an unassisted goal by Luca di Almeida. Six minutes later, the Matadors struck again with Cristopher Gonzalez finding the back of the net, the assist awarded to Adam Salma. Yavapai cut the deficit in half at the 54-minute mark on a goal by Judah Levy. Arizona Western retook a two-goal advantage with a goal from Abdou Moursali, assisted by Enzo Manga in the 87th minute. Moments later, the Roughriders connected on a penalty kick from Rashaad Powery to make the score 3-2 which would be the final tally. With the win, #8 Arizona Western improves to 9-1 on the season and 4-0 on conference play. The Matadors will be back in action on Tuesday when they take another road trip, this time to Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher, Arizona, for another conference match with the Gila Monsters at John Mickelson Stadium. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
