YUMA, Ariz. – NJCAA Second Team All-American and Arizona Western Men's Basketball's leading scorer Yaxel Lendeborg has signed to continue his career at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Lendeborg played in 78 career games over three seasons with Arizona Western, averaging 13.2 points per game and 13.0 rebounds per contest. The sophomore forward averaged a career-best 17.2 points per game this past season.

The Pennsauken, N.J. native led the nation in rebounds this year, grabbing a total of 429 rebounds, averaging 13.0 boards per game. Lendeborg broke the program record for rebounds in a game, grabbing 31 rebounds against Scottsdale on January 28.

Lendeborg finished his career at Arizona Western a two-time All-American, having earned NJCAA Third-Team All-American honors in the 2021-22 season. In his final game as a Matador, Lendeborg scored a career-high 30 points in the West District Championship game at Salt Lake on March 11.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is an NCAA DI institution that competes in the American Athletic Conference and is coached by Andy Kennedy. The Blazers won 29 games last season, posting a 29-10 record, reaching the National Invitation Tournament Championship Game.
