All-ACCAC selection Hargrove signs with UAB

YUMA, Ariz. – Second Team All-ACCAC selection Marquis Hargrove has signed to continue his career at the University of Alabama at Birmingham after playing in 77 career games at Arizona Western and helping the Matadors to a Region I title this season.

Hargrove scored 861 points in his three seasons at Arizona Western, averaging 11.2 points per game after averaging a career-best 14.5 points per game as a sophomore in the 2022-23 season. Hargrove scored a career-high 27 points in back-to-back games, doing so against Central Arizona on February 8 and matching that number on February 11 in a win against Chandler-Gilbert, earning him NJCAA DI National Player of the Week honors.

The guard from Sacramento, Calif., ended the season by averaging 17.6 points per game over the final 12 games of the season and shot 42 percent from the three-point line. Hargrove helped the Matadors claim the Region I title by scoring 17 points in the Matadors' 73-62 win at Cochise on March 6.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is an NCAA DI institution that competes in Conference USA and is coached by Andy Kennedy. The Blazers won 29 games last season, posting a 29-10 record, reaching the National Invitation Tournament Championship Game.
