    YUMA, Ariz. – Absorb, counter, get wide and create. The 14th ranked Arizona Western men’s soccer team executed its game plan with precision for 90 minutes on Thursday night to take out fifth-ranked Pima 2-0. AWC will finish either third or fourth in the conference depending on the outcome of a Phoenix-Glendale match.

    Inches Short

    YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western women’s soccer team battled, created chances and attacked all night against Pima, but the shots simply didn’t go home. In the end, Pima knocked in one breakaway goal and absorbed the AWC (13-4-3 overall, 13-4-3 Arizona Community College Athletic Conference) attack to knock off the Lady Mats 1-0.

    Ace in the Hole

    YUMA, Ariz. – A dozen aces and big attacks powered the Arizona Western volleyball team on Tuesday night against Chandler-Gilbert in Yuma. The Lady Mats swept CGCC 25-16, 25-12 and 25-19 with a dominant offensive performance. AWC (14-9 overall, 6-5 Arizona Community College Athletic Conference) hit .400 as a team and racked up 42 kills to only 10 errors.

    Domino Effect

    YUMA, Ariz. – A loss by top-ranked East Mississippi last week shook up the latest edition of the NJCAA football poll this week. Thanks to that loss and a win over the weekend, the Arizona Western football team moved up to second and are one of two unbeaten teams in the top five.

    YUMA, Ariz. – One down week dropped the Arizona Western women’s soccer team five spots in the latest NJCAA poll. AWC was 19th in the poll that was released earlier this morning.

    YUMA, Ariz. – For the first time this season, the Arizona Western men’s soccer team lost two matches in a row. Both came on the road, and the Mats dropped in the latest NJCAA poll down to 14th this week.

    Jekyll And Hyde

    YUMA, Ariz. – One seven minute stretch erased a ton of mistakes on Saturday night for the Arizona Western football team. With 34 seconds left in the third quarter, a pick-six flipped a close game on its head for the third-ranked Mats (5-0 overall, 4-0 Western States Football League) against Phoenix College. The Mats ripped off 34 unanswered points to erase a 13-12 deficit and win 46-13.

    Tight Squeeze

    YUMA, Ariz. – The 14th ranked Arizona Western women’s soccer team played hard and controlled the ball but came away on the wrong end of the match against Paradise Valley on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Mats lost 1-0 in a game they out-possessed and out-chanced PVCC.
