    YUMA, Ariz. – A loss by top-ranked East Mississippi last week shook up the latest edition of the NJCAA football poll this week. Thanks to that loss and a win over the weekend, the Arizona Western football team moved up to second and are one of two unbeaten teams in the top five.

    YUMA, Ariz. – One down week dropped the Arizona Western women’s soccer team five spots in the latest NJCAA poll. AWC was 19th in the poll that was released earlier this morning.

    YUMA, Ariz. – For the first time this season, the Arizona Western men’s soccer team lost two matches in a row. Both came on the road, and the Mats dropped in the latest NJCAA poll down to 14th this week.

    Jekyll And Hyde

    YUMA, Ariz. – One seven minute stretch erased a ton of mistakes on Saturday night for the Arizona Western football team. With 34 seconds left in the third quarter, a pick-six flipped a close game on its head for the third-ranked Mats (5-0 overall, 4-0 Western States Football League) against Phoenix College. The Mats ripped off 34 unanswered points to erase a 13-12 deficit and win 46-13.

    Tight Squeeze

    YUMA, Ariz. – The 14th ranked Arizona Western women’s soccer team played hard and controlled the ball but came away on the wrong end of the match against Paradise Valley on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Mats lost 1-0 in a game they out-possessed and out-chanced PVCC.

    Hat Trick Power

    YUMA, Ariz. – Juan Arango powered the Arizona Western men’s soccer team on a hot, sunny Saturday afternoon in Yuma. The sophomore scored three goals for a hat trick, and he added an assist in a 6-0 win for the Mats over Paradise Valley. The loss snapped a two-game skid for the Mats before they enter the final week of the season.

    Power Swings

    YUMA, Ariz. – Big kills and smart placement powered the Arizona Western volleyball team on Friday night in Yuma. The Lady Mats (13-9 overall, 5-5 Arizona Community College Athletic Conference) racked up 43 kills in a tight three-set win over Division II 13th ranked Mesa 25-23, 25-21 and 25-21.

    One Spot Drop

    YUMA, Ariz. – Despite going 2-0 last week, the Arizona Western women’s soccer team dropped one spot in the latest NJCAA poll. The Lady Mats moved down to 14th in the poll once Laramie County vaulted back into the top five and shifted everyone down one spot. Laramie County had been ranked two weeks ago but missed a nomination form last week to drop out of the top 20.
