    Do It All

    YUMA, Ariz. – Yenny Montoya Murillo impacted every phase of Arizona Western College’s (17-5 overall, 9-1 Arizona Community College Athletic Conference) volleyball match on Wednesday night. She led the team with 16 kills and four aces to go with seven digs as AWC topped Eastern Arizona (15-9 overall, 6-4 ACCAC) in four sets, 25-20, 25-17, 11-25, 25-16. The win keeps AWC on top of the conference and in line for the Region I first seed with three matches left.

    Climbing Slow, Climbing Steady

    YUMA, Ariz. – After dropping two games early in the season that nearly knocked them out of the rankings, the Arizona Western College football team has slowly climbed back up, win by win, back into the top 10. AWC was ranked 10th in the latest NJCAA poll, released today. East Mississippi, Garden City, Iowa Western, Hutchinson, and Northwest Mississippi make up the top five.

    Second in Line

    YUMA, Ariz. – For the third straight week, the Arizona Western College women’s soccer team stayed in second in the NJCAA Poll. The Lady Mats are the only unbeaten, untied team in the top five. Navarro is first again. Tyler, Monroe and Iowa Western finish up the top five.

    Swing Away

    YUMA, Ariz. – Haylee Paladini stayed consistent all week for the Arizona Western College women’s volleyball team, and she helped the team go 2-1 in three matches. Paladini was named the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference Division I Co-Player of the Week.

    Ground and Pound

    YUMA, Ariz. – Kendon Walker and John Oliver provided all kinds of fireworks on Saturday night for the 11th ranked Arizona Western College football team (5-2 overall, 3-1 Western States Football League). The two running backs rushed for 344 yards on 29 carries while ripping off four touchdowns in a 48-7 demolition of Phoenix College (1-7 overall, 0-4 WSFL). The defense also dominated and only surrendered 114 total yards of offense to PC.

    Aces, Aces, Aces

    YUMA, Ariz. – Jovana Papaz and Lauolive Tonga racked up the aces on Saturday afternoon. The two combined for 11 aces as the 20th ranked Arizona Western College volleyball team (16-5 overall, 8-1 Arizona Community College Athletic Conference) won in straight sets (25-18, 25-20, 25-13) over Pima Community College (11-11 overall, 4-6 ACCAC). The 11 aces tied a season high.

    Quick Work

    YUMA, Ariz. – Friday night, the 20th ranked Arizona Western College volleyball team (15-5 overall, 7-1 Arizona Community College Athletic Conference) shook off early mistakes and took out Phoenix College (4-13 overall, 2-8 ACCAC) in straight sets. AWC won 25-11, 25-15, 25-15 for its seventh sweep of the year.

    In the first set, Phoenix took an early 3-1 lead before Haylee Paladini righted the ship with back-to-back kills. Paladini led the team with seven kills in the match.

    White Knuckler

    YUMA, Ariz. – Thursday night, the soccer wasn’t pretty, but it was enough to keep the Arizona Western College women’s soccer team undefeated. The Lady Mats (17-0-0 overall, 17-0-0 Arizona Community College Athletic Conference) won 2-1 in overtime against Scottsdale Community College (8-6-2 overall, 8-6-2 ACCAC).
