Two-Out Magic Propels Matadors Past EAC

YUMA, Ariz--- Two-out magic propelled the Arizona Western Matadors (11-3 overall, 3-1 ACCAC) in a sweep of the Eastern Arizona Gila Monsters (0-4 overall, 0-4 ACCAC) Tuesday afternoon at Kammann Field by the scores of 9-2 and 14-4.

The Matadors scored 18 of their 23 runs on the day after two were out in an inning, including five of the final six runs that closed out run-rule victory in game two.

BSB: Matadors Open Conference with Pima Split

YUMA, Ariz---Strong Pitching propelled the Arizona Western Matadors (9-3 overall, 1-1 ACCAC) all day long but one bad inning led to a split of the ACCAC opening double-header with the Pima Aztecs (6-2 overall, 1-1 ACCAC) Saturday afternoon at Kammann Field.

In a pair of games that left little margin for error, AWC was solid for the first 14 innings of the day.

Long Ball Decisive in Mats 10 Inning Win over Southern Idaho

HENDERSON, Nev—While it wasn’t the win they thought they had in the ninth inning, the long ball proved decisive in the Arizona Western Matadors (8-2 overall) 9-7 win over Southern Idaho in ten innings at the Manny Guerra Border Battle Saturday afternoon at the College of Southern Nevada.

Getting out of big spots was key for Arizona Western in the early innings as Southern Idaho’s late rally forced extra innings in Henderson.

But the long ball proved invaluable.

BSB: Strong Start Fizzles in Nevada

HENDERSON, Nev. – A game that started with a fury, ended quietly as the Arizona Western Matadors (7-2 overall) dropped the late game of a twin-bill to #20 Southern Nevada 8-4 Friday night, losing both games of the double-header at Lied Field.

 

Much like the first game, it was the chances the Matadors could not cash in on that will leave them wondering.
